Education: To become a sterile processing technician in Florida, start by earning a high school diploma or GED. Enroll in a sterile processing technician program at a community college or technical school, where you’ll learn about infection control, sterilization techniques, and medical terminology. These programs typically take a few months to complete and may include hands-on clinical training. Our program her eat USCI can be completed in 4 months.
Certification: After completing your education, obtain certification by passing the CRCST. Certification, though not always required, enhances your job prospects and demonstrates your competence. CRCST certification from HSPA requires that you pass the certification exam and complete 400 hours of hands-on experience in a Central Service department. These hours can be completed before testing or within 6 months of passing the exam. Please note that you are responsible for obtaining the 400 hours of hands-on experience once you finish our Sterile Processing Technician course- USCI will not provide this training.
