Upon graduation from our pharmacy tech program for Pennsylvania residents, you will receive your U.S. Career Institute Certificate of Completion attesting to your accomplishment. Pharmacy technicians work in retail pharmacies (such as CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, independent pharmacies, and certain grocery stores), hospitals and clinics, long term care facilities, mail-order pharmacies, military and government facilities, compounding pharmacies, along with other pharmaceutical industries working in research, manufacturing, or quality control of medications.
Graduates are eligible to take advantage of an 80-hour Walgreens externship. The externship does not have an additional tuition cost, and is available to all graduates who meet the Walgreens Externship requirements. Even though the externship is optional, we encourage our graduates to take advantage of this great resource to get valuable hands-on experience. If you meet the requirements our graduate support team will help you set up the externship in your area!

Education and Training: While Pennsylvania doesn’t require formal education, completing a pharmacy technician training program or earning an associate degree in pharmacy technology can be beneficial.
Certification (Optional but Preferred): Consider obtaining certification by passing the PTCE exam or the ExCPT exam to improve job prospects.
Apply for Employment: Find job opportunities in pharmacies, hospitals, or retail drugstores that offer on-the-job training. Our career coaching program will assist you in the job exploration process by helping you prepare your resume and provide guidance.
Register with the State: Pennsylvania requires pharmacy technicians to register with the State Board of Pharmacy. Submit an application, pay the required fee, and provide any requested documentation.
Maintain Certification: If certified, renew every two years by completing continuing education and paying renewal fees.
