5 Benefits of Finding a Job that Allows You to Work from Home

These days, there are a ton of job opportunities that allow employees to work from home, especially in technical fields like medical transcription or medical billing. And for some people, including stay-at-home parents, seniors or people with disabilities, a job that allows them to work from home can be life-changing. Consider a mom or dad who needs to be home by 3 p.m. When their children get out of school, or even a senior who loves staying busy and earning supplemental income but has trouble with a daily commute. For those people and many others, an office-based 9-to-5 format may not be feasible. To that end, take a look at these great benefits of finding a career that will allow you to work from home:
Jobs that allow you to work from home provide a great balance between work and personal life. Work from home jobs can also be a great option for people with mental illness.
1. Flexibility
One of the best parts about working from home is its inherent flexibility. Not only can you decide
your own daily schedule, but that schedule can also be altered and adjusted if, say, you have a
doctor appointment or your child is home sick for a day. And it’s not just the hours that are
flexible in work-from-home jobs. You can also decide where to work, and even what to wear each day
(every day can be casual Friday!).

                    2. Avoiding a commute
Unless you consider walking from your bedroom to your desk a commute, being able to avoid rush hour
is one of the best parts about working from home. Commutes, especially within larger cities, can
take hours away from your day, which is valuable time you could be spending doing other important
things. And for seniors or people with disabilities, commuting may be impossible, not to mention simply
                    frustrating.
3. A less stressful environment
Many people find it much easier to be productive in a calm, quiet and isolated environment. If that
sounds like you, a job that allows you to work from home may be a great choice. Working from home
can be more comfortable, and the environment is easier to control, which can often make it less
                    stressful than an office.
4. Savings
Avoiding traffic isn’t the only valuable part about skipping daily commutes: It can also provide a
great deal of savings. Just think about how much gas it takes to drive to and from an office each
day or how much a public transit pass costs. You may also find yourself saving on professional
clothing and shoes, as well as day-to-day expenses like that morning stop at a coffee shop.
5. More time with children
Perhaps the most priceless part of a work-from-home job for parents is the ability to spend more
time with children. The balance between work and life is sometimes easier to accomplish when
you can cut down on commute times, take breaks from work to spend time with your children and even
simply be around when they come home from school each day.
